The best Alpine Trails you've never ridden...
Come and ride Meribel
Tell Me More

Why your next guided mountain biking holiday should be with us...

What do you look for in a guided mountain biking holiday in the French Alps? Endless single track? Technical trails and tight switch backs? Awe inspiring views? Lift assisted riding? Big, burly, bermy, bikepark trails? 2000m plus vertical descents? A mountain bike guide that can show you the best the French Alps has to offer?

Meribel and the 3 Valleys has all of that and two more things: No queues and quiet trails.

The riding

Meribel offers an alternative to the more well known bike parks in the French alps. Our mountain biking trails are a mecca for Enduro enthusiasts with singletrack of all flavours: rooty, loamy, wooded, exposed, tight, twisty and flat out.

Our trail builders have quietly been building an enviable bike park to get you warmed up, hone some skills and hit lap after lap of gnarly descents. But it's the wilder trails that will have you coming back for more.

Both sides of the valley offer options that take you from the highest ridgelines to the valley bottom, offering 2000m of vertical descent. Not sold yet?

The Chalet

Our accommodation is perfectly situated for mountain biking in Meribel. The best trails end up on our doorstep meaning that you can hit the trails, fettle your bike with a beer in hand, relax in the hot tub and then enjoy our delicious food and excellent hospitality. We have over 70 five star reviews on TripAdvisor.

After Madison Saracen stayed with us in 2014 team manager Will Longden had this to say:

"Meribel is a fantastic summer location for ride holidays, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you spend it with Alpine Ethos"

The riding:

Ride some of the best Alpine mountain bike trails in France.

We believe that Meribel and the surrounding valleys have some of the best, most fun, smile inducing, loamy, technical, open, treelined runs you can find in the French Alps. With views of Mont Blanc from the peaks and 2000m of vertical descent to ride you've got an amazing Alpine playground waiting for you.

Our standard package includes 5 days guided riding and one rest day. You'll spend 3 days on our local trails in Meribel, St Martin and the Three Valleys, a day in the saddle pedalling up to Mont Jovet giving way to an unforgettable ride back down to Bozel and an away day in Les Arcs, La Plagne or Tignes.

What standard of rider do I have to be?

Clement will be with you to offer advice and encouragement and will tailor the riding to suit the group. However our holidays are aimed squarely at intermediate riders and above. The trails will at times be steep and technical and whats coming next won't be signposted like a trail centre. Being able to read a trail, control your speed and see what is coming next is vital.

In terms of experience we'd expect that you can ride red grade trail centre trails (7Stanes, Afan etc) confidently.

What mountain bike should I bring?

Ideally the mountain bike that you ride the most, which will have at least 130mm of travel front and rear. Any bike you bring to the Alps should be in excellent condition and ready for the punishment it will receive! Big rotors (180mm) for stopping and tubless or dual ply tyres to minimise puncturing would help as well. Due to the nature of the week some pedalling will be required so the DH rig is probably best left at home.

Having said that the week is designed for you to get as much enjoyment as possible so where we can Clem will tailor the riding accordingly.

What protection should I bring

The trails here are long and can be unforgiving. We would recommend elbow and knee pads and a full face helmet as being the best option with a back protector an optional extra.

For the more pedally days an open face and slower descending would be an option but given the length of the descents you will be riding the more protection the better.

While we don't offer transfers ourselves you do have plenty of options to get from the airport to resort. Of the nearest airports Geneva has the most flights and transfer options so we would recommend flights there.

Once we know your flight details we can make enquiries on your behalf and find you the best options.

Our prices are based on two people sharing a room. It is possible to reserve your own room but there is a single occupancy supplement and limited availability. Please contact us for more details.

What to do on day off?

Our team gets a well earned day off once a week and leave you to your own devices. If you fancy a day off the bike we can help you organise other activities such as fly fishing in high Alpine streams, parascending, hiking and much more.

There are some great options for dinner in Les Allues, including our local La Tsaretta, where Justin and his crew will look after you almost as well as we do.

We (Heather and Andy) have over 16 years of hospitality experience between us and since starting Alpine Ethos we have had a steady stream of happy, returning guests and five star reviews. We are here because we love the mountains and are passionate about offering the best holidays we can.

When we decided to start running mountain biking holidays in the French Alps, Clement was the first person we thought of. He knows the mountains here really well, works on the hill in the winter and mountainbikes hard in the summer. He's a top man to spend time on the mountain with and we're stoked he is with us.
