With just under two weeks until the lifts open on 8 December, let’s take a look at what’s new for the coming season!
There has been a lot of work going on during the summer to improve the lifts in Meribel.
No longer will you need to stand in the gondola on your way up to Mont Vallon. The gondolas have all been replaced with new seated ones, making it much more suited to eating your packed lunch on board!
The old Plan de l’Homme and Roc de Fer chairlifts have been taken out and replaced with a brand-new 6-man hooded, heated seat chair lift called “Legends”. The new lift will run from the Chaudanne directly to the top of the Elements snow park. The super fast lift can carry up to 3600 people an hour!
The old Plan de l’Homme lift has been moved to replace the Cherferie drag. This will be a big improvement as this was previously a long, cold drag lift, with a nasty bend mid-way. The new lift will take just 4 minutes. This makes the Legends – Cherferie a great option for dropping down into the Bellville Valley.
As if new lifts were not enough, we will also have 2 new red pistes this winter.
The new red run “Daguet”, will be a great option for your ski back to Les Allues from the top of the western side of the mountain. It will start midway down the black Face piste, pass under the Olympic Express chairlift and merge into the meeting point of the Gelinotte and Raffort pistes that take you down to Meribel and Les Allues.
The second new piste, near to the new Cherferie lift will be a new red piste called the “Gypaete”.
The Meribel Tourist Office have produced a great little video showing all the new lifts and pistes, give it a watch to find out more!
