With just over two months until the lifts open on 7 December, let’s take a look at what’s new for the coming season!
There has been a lot of work going on during the summer to improve the lifts in the 3 Valleys.
The St Martin 1 Gondola has been upgraded increasing capacity by 30%, now able to move 2400 skier per hour. The runs from the top of the Meribel/St Martin Valley right down to St Martin are fabulous, and now you will be able to lap them much faster!
The old Creux Noir chair lift which was out of action last winter has been replaced with a new 350m drag lift, opening up the wonderful freeride area once again. The area will be named The Freeride Lab, and the 2 red and one black run will not be pisted, making them great freeride options! It will also make access to all the great off piste in that area much easier than last year!
La Praz in the Courchevel Valley has had a major face lift, with a huge new 27 million investment in the new L'Alpinism complex. It will house the La Praz gondola which will be able to carry 10 people in each bubble which will now be able to wizz you up to Courchevel 1850 in just 6 minutes. The new complex will also have a large underground car park, welcome area, ski lockers and kids play area.
As if new lifts were not enough, we will also have 2 new red pistes in Meribel this winter.
The new red run “Daguet”, will be a great option for your ski back to Les Allues from the top of the western side of the mountain. It will start midway down the black Face piste, pass under the Olympic Express chairlift and merge into the meeting point of the Gelinotte and Raffort pistes that take you down to Meribel and Les Allues.
The second new piste, near to the new Cherferie lift will be a new red piste called the “Gypaete”.
This year sees the retuen of Jack's Bar in Meribel. It was sorely missed last year, but this year returns bigger and better in a central location just off the main roundabout at the Chaudanne. Our guests will be able to enjoy fantastic apres there, before being collected by our shuttle bus in time for dinner!
The spa in Brides les Bains has had a 15 million euro upgrade this summer, making it one of the largest spas in France. It is well worth and visit, and can be easily accessed by taking the gondola from Les Allues directly to Brides les Bains.
